Stereoscopy, a method pioneered by Sir Charles Wheatstone in 1833 is the answer to what is 3D TV technology all about. Stereoscopy involves separating a moving picture into two, in order for the mind to create an illusion of seeing a three-dimensional video. Hence, 3D is all in the mind. In reality, it does not happen, the mind makes the magic happen by making it associate or fuse two separate images into one.
Such principles are what 3D TV technology is loosely based on, in varying degrees.  It is an image mind trick, to borrow slightly from Star Wars Jedi lingo. By the way, the George Lucas trilogy and prequels would be a joy to watch in a 3D format.
3D TV technology is certainly one of the most exciting technologies to come about, obviously fuelled by a spate of recent big budget movies.  However, of all movies ever delivered in 3D format, Jim Cameron’s Avatar is probably the most influential.  The highest grossing movie of all time seems to have exerted tremendous pressure on TV manufacturers to speed up the development their various 3D offerings.
In the final analysis, not all movies will look good on 3D. Of other current movies, Final Destination 4 probably shows one of the best ways to explore 3D power to draw a box office crowd. Had the movie not been shown in 3D format, it would not have attracted quite as many moviegoers
However, the 3D option in a movie such as Superman Returns was no guarantee for success. Although it is one movie that would have benefited from the use, the fact that only a very short part of the film was in 3D creates the sad impression that it was a last minute attempt.
Not so for manufacturers who have invested a lot development time and research into 3D viewing, like for one, Samsung 3D TV technology, where images seem to leap right out of the screen, it is scary. In addition, other manufacturers are not far behind either, which gives the overall impression that virtually every TV maker has worked hard to make the customer’s 3D experience satisfactory.
In the final analysis, what can be so annoying is when the magic fails to materialize through 3D TV technology
